Below are pictures from the "10th Annual 3817 Classy Christmas Kegger." Most of these photos are from before our guests showed up, and they might lead you to conclude that the party was just the four of us and Neill's parents. That was not the case, although I'm sure we would have had just as much fun. Hopefully some pictures will emerge on Facebook.
Our subs came from Mastellones and they were delicious. I ordered 6 "super subs" - one Veggie (which is an excellent veggie sub), one Caprese, two Old Worlds and two Classic Italians. We also had steamed shrimp, crab dip, and a variety of chips and dip.
Angus and Jim teamed up to make a great fruit punch. It was a hit, and we ran out early in the night. They dressed it up with strawberries and oranges, skillfully sliced by Jim.
Mastellones had chestnuts, so I bought a couple pounds of them for roasting. They are in the bowl on the ottoman pictured below. It took a couple tries to work out how to roast them properly, but once we figured it out, everyone at the party wanted a fire roasted chestnut. They taste like a subtly sweet, very starchy potato. The more I had, the more I enjoyed them. We roasted them all, one at a time. It's a great fireside activity.
As the party reached the early morning hours, most of our guests had gone home. We had 6 beds available for guests, and nearly all of them were used. I think the party was very successful. It was a team effort from the four of us, with help from friends and family.
The morning crew put forth an inspiring effort and finished the keg.
I think Clara had a good time, but she seemed ready for the partying to be over.
